Giving circle awards two grants to local charities

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Continuing its mission to engage women of all generations in the power of community philanthropy, Women for Women announced its 16th annual round of grants.

The 2024 grants, totaling $65,000, were awarded to the following organizations:

  • Compass for Kids – $40,000
    To support Club Compass, a free, weekly program designed to provide children with social-emotional and academic support, life skills, a safe space to learn and grow, and positive adult role models.
  • Springfield Youth Performance Group – $25,000
    To support the Mighty Movers program, which provides free dance education to at-risk youth, training them for participation in stage productions.

This year’s awards bring cumulative grantmaking by the group to more than $615,000 since its inception in 2007.

Women for Women is a special initiative at the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln and aims to help members “build a legacy together” by pooling their annual contributions and creating a permanent resource for local programs that support women and children. Women for Women Steering Committee members are Kate Dunne (chair), Mary Beaumont, Katherine Cadagin, Patti Camille, Pamela Frazier, Kathleen Holley, Sammi Mander, and Melissa Skinner-Liberman.
