The Springfield Youth Performance Group (SYPG) is proud to partner with WILD Canine Rescue to bring the “Muttcracker” to Springfield. The “Muttcracker” is a popular social media campaign among the dance community and local animal shelters to raise awareness of nonprofit organizations that support the arts and pet adoption.
The Muttcracker will feature a series of gorgeous photos of the SYPG dancers in tandem with adoptable dogs from WILD Canine Rescue, a Springfield organization devoted to animals in need, and placing them in loving, adoptive homes. Every few days a new photo will be released featuring an adoptable dog with a beloved Nutcracker character.
“’Muttcracker is fun for our dancers, and such a wonderful way to use our performances to help animals in need,” said SYPG Director Taryn Grant.
WILD Canine Rescue volunteers will bring 15 adoptable dogs to the Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance for their photos to be taken with performers in this year’s The Nutcracker. All photos will be donated by local photographer Zach Adams of 1221 Photography.
The “Muttcracker” is a great opportunity to find forever homes for shelter animals just in time for the holidays,” said WILD Canine Rescue Director, Jill Egizii.
SYPG brings the beloved Nutcracker ballet to the stage at 2 PM and 6PM on December 2 and again at 2 PM on December 3 at Sacred Heart Griffin Auditorium at 1200 W. Washington Street.
All Muttcracker dogs will be available for adoption. Qualified adoptive families may contact WILD Canine Rescue at wildcaninerescue@gmail.com. Featured photos of adoptable dogs with Nutcracker characters will be posted at facebook.com/sypg05 and facebook.com/WILDCanineRescue.
