The Springfield Youth Ballet Company (SYBC), an organization spotlighting young talent from the Springfield area, is presenting a colorful, energetic production of the classical children’s stories The Tales of Beatrix Potter various dates in March, streaming through showtix4u.com.

Join Beatrix Potter in a world of her own creation, filled with beloved characters including Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, and Tom Kitten. Follow along on her journey as her characters come to life, make mischief, and inspire another generation to fall in love with Potter’s classic children’s tales through the language of dance. This production features choreography by Caitlin Helton Scherer and more than 50 accomplished local children and youth.

“After a full year of working mostly behind-the-scenes, we are thrilled to get our dancers safely back onstage, performing in a new virtual format,” said SYBC artistic director Caitlin Helton Scherer, the choreographer of this presentation. “The classic literature of Beatrix Potter will be bright to life with brand new choreography, beautiful costumes and projections, and music by Sir Edward Elgar. Children and adults of all ages will enjoy watching their favorite characters brought to life in this children’s ballet.”

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the performance will be pre-recorded and streamed. Performers will be following all COVID-19 protocols during the pre-recording. Performances will take place March 5 at 6:00, March 6 at 6:00 and 2:00, March 7 at 2:00 and 6:00, March
12 at 6:00, March 13 at 2:00 and 6:00, and March 14 at 2:00 and 6:00. 

Tickets are $30 per device for scheduled streamed performances and $45 for on-demand performances. A VIP premiere event performance will be taking place on March 5 for $100. Tickets may be purchased online at www.springfieldyouthballetcompany.org.

Springfield Youth Ballet Company (SYBC) was founded in the summer of 2005 as a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the performing arts. SYBC’s mission is to encourage and cultivate the artistically talented youth in our community by giving them the opportunity to perform thereby enhancing community awareness and appreciation of the performing arts.
