Tickets are now available for Springfield Ballet Company’s Rockballet-Emerge at the UIS Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 2pm and 7pm.
The company has emerged from the past year changed, and the dancers are excited to perform again, said Julie Ratz, artistic director. “We may be emerging from the pandemic, isolation, sexuality, gender, or a relationship, for example. We hope that each dancer, choreographer, and audience member will impose their personal experience, bias, prejudice, or current state of mind on each song and each piece of choreography. We are thankful for the support of our community and Rockballet-Emerge presenting sponsor US Bank.”
Tickets for general admission are $35 (plus facility fees). There is a cash-only parking fee of $5. Tickets are limited, and attendees will leave at least two seats between seated parties to promote social distancing. The performance will be approximately one hour with no intermission, and there will be no concessions.
Springfield Ballet Company president, Sami McElwee, encouraged anyone interested in the company, dance, or the arts, to make a day or night of Rockballet-Emerge. “We have all been holding our breath, waiting to experience a sense of normalcy and enjoy the company of others. The arts, or better still, Springfield Ballet Company’s Rockballet-Emerge, will provide that opportunity. Our dancers cannot wait to perform on stage again. So, bring family, friends, and enjoy the emergence of one of Springfield’s most-loved treasures.”
UIS Performing Arts Center requires the following: all attendees, regardless of age, show, before admission, either proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within two days before Rockballet-Emerge or proof of full Covid-19 vaccination (including two weeks passing since final injection).
All attendees must wear face masks at the UIS Performing Arts Center during periods the CDC designates Sangamon County’s Covid transmission levels a “Substantial/High.”
