Springfield Art Association’s most popular event, Paint the Street, is set for Saturday, June 24, 2023 in downtown Springfield at 11:00 a.m. The event, presented by PNC Bank, will turn Washington Street in downtown Springfield into a gallery under the stars as amateur and professional artists roll up their sleeves and paint 6’ x 6’ squares. “We encourage artists and non-artists to join our event as painters, or come by later in the day to enjoy a stroll amongst the colorful images,” said Charlotte Kane, Director of Advancement and Operations, Springfield Arts Association. Reserve a square for $35. Up to six people may paint on a square. Registration includes square space, paint, brushes, a t-shirt, and sponsor goodie bag. “You provide the inspiration! It is an ideal activity for the whole family,” adds Kane. For the seventh year, PNC is the presenting sponsor of the family-friendly community event. “Paint the Driveway” is also available as an extension of the event. “During the pandemic we offered an alternative, which has now become a popular option for people to feel included and instead paint their driveways, parking lots, or patios.” Kane added. Professional artists can enter in the professional division, judged by two art professionals. The top three squares will win cash prizes. Professional squares are just $10 extra and MUST be pre-registered by June 22 at 11:59 PM. The pre-registration period ends Thursday, June 22 at 11:59 PM. Day-of registrations may be purchased at the event for non-professional squares, but will increase in price by $5. |
