Lincoln Land Community College recently received the gift of portable X-ray equipment from Memorial Medical Center in collaboration with BJC for use in the LLCC associate degree radiography lab. A portable X-ray machine is used to take diagnostic images of patients who cannot be transferred to a stationary unit.
“We’re delighted to partner with Lincoln Land Community College,” said Marjorie King, director of medical imaging and radiation oncology services at Memorial Medical Center. “By providing our local students with the latest technology, we want them to develop and learn the skills they’ll need to provide the best possible care to the people and communities we serve.”
“We thank Memorial Medical Center for their generosity,” said Karen Sanders, executive director, LLCC Foundation. “The portable X-ray machine makes a great addition to the state-of-the-art equipment available to our students and allows them to practice on the same equipment they will find on the job.”
“Our students will have hands-on experience with this technology and be better prepared for their role as X-ray students at the clinical sites they attend as part of their education,” added Janelle Murphy, director of the LLCC radiography program.
LLCC’s two-year, associate degree radiography program prepares students for an occupation in the professional field of medical radiography (X-ray technology). Classes begin in June each year, with 100 percent job placement for graduates. More information is available atwww.llcc.edu/radiography.
