The Lincoln Land Community College Board of Trustees welcomed a new student trustee on Wednesday, April 24.

Braden Nicoll of Springfield took the oath of office for a one-year term as student trustee on the LLCC Board of Trustees.

Nicoll, a freshman, is a member of LLCC’s Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa and Black Student Union. Currently a certified medical assistant, Nicoll plans on earning his associate of applied science degree in nursing and then continuing his education to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.

Nicoll was elected by the student body. LLCC Board Chair Gordon Gates read a resolution in honor of retiring student trustee Rayna Herzog of Springfield.

Eight individuals serve on the LLCC Board of Trustees, seven elected from the college district and the eighth elected from among LLCC students. Trustees represent residents of the college district to assure that the college is providing programs and services that meet the educational needs of the communities it serves.
