Lincoln Land Community College Agriculture is one of just six programs nationwide to receive the 2019 National Association of Agricultural Educators Outstanding Postsecondary Agriculture Program Award. The award was presented at the NAAE annual convention in Anaheim, Calif., on Dec. 3.
“We are honored to be selected for this recognition,” says Bill Harmon, LLCC professor and agriculture program coordinator. “We work with area agribusinesses and encourage experiential learning in various forms. For instance, all students enrolled in an applied science program complete at least two internships as a part of their studies. Also, livestock judging provides an opportunity for students to develop public speaking, time management and organizational skills. Our goal is to prepare students for high quality agriculture careers.”
LLCC officials broke ground on a new home for the LLCC ag program in 2019. The Kreher Agriculture Center will open on campus in spring semester of 2021.
LLCC offers a transfer degree in agriculture along with occupational degrees and certificates in agri-business management, precision agronomy, fertilizer and horticulture. More information is available at www.llcc.edu/agriculture.
