Not since 1803 has there been a double emergence of broods of cicadas! And, it won’t happen again until 2245, yes! 2245!!
Did you know that Central IL, and specifically mentioned in online conversations, Springfield, may likely be a double brood overlap area?
This means that both Brood XIX and XIII will converge at the same time in mid-May. The emergence will be staggered and therefore could last about six weeks.
