Lake Springfield Christian Assembly (LSCA) Celebrates Milestones, Highlights Transformational Vision
SPRINGFIELD, IL – Nearly 70 attendees gathered this past weekend for Lake Springfield Christian Assembly’s (LSCA) GROW Project Awareness Celebration, marking a momentous occasion in the camp’s 85-year history. For many, it was their first time experiencing the camp, providing a powerful introduction to LSCA’s mission of faith, community, and transformation.
Highlighting the GROW Project
A major purpose of the event was to spotlight the camp’s ambitious GROW Project, an initiative aimed at funding urgently needed renovations and replacing LSCA’s 50+ year-old swimming pool. These improvements are critical to ensuring the camp’s facilities continue to meet the needs of current and future generations, enhancing the experiences of every camper who arrives at LSCA.
Heartfelt Stories of Transformation
Guests heard inspiring testimonies from campers whose lives were forever changed at LSCA. An elementary school camper shared how the camp helped them build confidence and lasting friendships, while a high school camper described how their faith was deepened and their future brightened through their time at camp. These stories illustrated the profound impact LSCA has on young lives and highlighted the importance of sustaining its ministry.
Award-Winning Recognition
Adding to the celebration, LSCA was just honored with the title of Best Christian Camp in Springfield by the Illinois Times. This recognition underscores the camp’s dedication to excellence in ministry and community service, affirming its place as a beacon of faith and growth in the region.
Expanding Opportunities for Underserved Communities
The celebration also introduced CAMP CARE-A-LOT, LSCA’s newest program designed to provide summer camp experiences for children from low-income families. This initiative focuses on building self-esteem, leadership skills, and lifelong memories for kids who might not otherwise afford the opportunity to attend camp. LSCA is committed to raising the necessary funds to keep this life-changing program accessible to all.
Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future
The GROW Project represents LSCA’s vision to expand and enhance its facilities and programs for the next generation. Events like the Awareness Celebration are vital in rallying support to make this vision a reality. Together, with the support of the community, LSCA is poised to continue its mission of transforming lives through faith, love, and fellowship.
