Theatre in the Park, at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site, is hosting an All Shook Up
Workshop from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on July 13, 14, 18, and 19, 2019. Children ages 8 and up will learn a song and perform with the cast at the end of that evening's performance. There are only 20 spots per performance.
The Workshop cost $20 and includes one ticket voucher to show, T-shirt, bottle of water, two hours of ALL SHOOK UP workshop with the cast & director. Registration is due June 30. You may trade in your ticket voucher at the Box Office at New Salem State Park for an assigned seat. You may also purchase additional tickets at that time. Call the Box Office at 217-632-5440 for their hours. Please purchase your tickets early – the first 200 tickets purchased ensures a seat for you in case it rains and the show is moved to the indoor theatre.
Parents should drop their student off near the Abe Lincoln statue next to the Welcome Center at New Salem State Park at 12:45 p.m. Cast Members will be there to greet them; promptly pick up your students at 3:00 pm. Please return by 8 pm for that night’s show and wear your “ALL SHOOK UP” T-shirt and tennis shoes!
All Shook Up is a musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by Elvis Presley. It takes place in 1955, somewhere in Middle America, where one girl’s dream of adventure and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock and roll. Among the twenty four songs featured in the score are classics like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and, of course, “All Shook Up.”
All Shook Up runs July 12, 13, 14 and 18, 19, 20, 2019. Tickets are $15 adults, $13 seniors and $10 children under 12.
