When the trees or buildings are blocking the sun in certain parts of your yard, there are plenty of vegetables that you can grow in shade or partial shade
Partial shade means 3-6 hours of sun each day and full shade receives no direct sun and filtered light.

Root vegetables like beets, potatoes, radishes, carrots and potatoes will grow in partially shaded areas as well as broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts.
So don’t let the shade prevent your from planting an edible garden.
