In our 5th issue for 2018, we feature Karen Hasara.  She was the 2018 Athena Award recipient given by Illinois Women In Leadership this summer.  Her political career is impressive and she continues to mentor women on how best to approach a career in politics.  Story by Julie Cellini.

Andrea Braundmeier-Fleming’s research at SIU School of Medicine may someday provide women with an early detection test for the discovery of ovarian cancer.   In this issue, you can read about this and the story of Lois Strom who is under treatment for ovarian cancer that was discovered late.  Lois is on the Denim & Diamonds committee whose past fundraising efforts have gone to fund the research of Dr. Braundmeier-Fleming.  Story by Hillary LaMontagne.
