The Land of Lincoln Economic Development Corporation (LLEDC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Eric Berglund as the first Chief Executive Officer of the new organization.
“We are pleased and excited to introduce Eric to our Springfield community,” Hy Bunn, Chairman of the Board said. “He has shown great enthusiasm for our city and region, and he recognizes the opportunity to help us pull together, get the word out and achieve success in attracting people and jobs.”
Berglund comes to the LLEDC from the Southwest Florida Economic Development Alliance located in Ft. Myers Florida where he was recruited in 2015 to lead the newly formed regional economic development organization representing five counties with a population of 1.3 million. Before Berglund located to Southwest Florida, he was the President & CEO of Upstate Colorado Economic Development in Greeley, Colorado north of Denver.
Berglund has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Finance from Colorado State University and Master in Organization and Leadership from the University of Denver.
“I am excited to join the LLEDC and to help focus our mission of attracting, retaining and expanding businesses opportunities in the region,” Berglund said. “Diversifying our economy, building our industry clusters and encouraging entrepreneurship and investment is at the core of our work. I look forward to working with our partners in the public and private sectors to achieve our mutual goals.”

Today is Berglund’s first official day with the LLEDC.
The LLEDC is a new public/private partnership focused on economic development in Springfield and Sangamon County Illinois. Our mission is to pursue economic prosperity and growth for Sangamon County and the City of Springfield by creating a financially sound community able to attract new businesses and skilled talent, while retaining today’s profitable companies and their local workforce.
