A 1976 Springfield High School graduate and 1979 Illinois State University alumnus, Tim Schweizer has been a prominent voice in Springfield sports for decades. Since 1997, he’s served as a radio play-by-play announcer and commentator for WFMB-AM, covering high school baseball, basketball, and football, as well as University of Illinois Springfield basketball. Tim’s broadcasting career began in 1974 at WTAX-AM, and his work earned him the IHSA’s Distinguished Media Service Award in 2015 and induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006.
Beyond broadcasting, Tim has been a key figure in preserving Springfield’s sports history as a longtime member of the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame selection committee. His commitment to the community also extends to his involvement with organizations like the Springfield Housing Authority and the Boys and Girls Clubs. Tim’s dedication to Springfield sports and his community make him a true local legend.
