Twelve residents, seven businesses, and one nonprofit affected by the June fire at 613 E Adams in downtown Springfield received checks today from the INB Benefit for the Businesses Affected by the Adams Family Fire fund.

To date, the community has raised a little more than $18,000 to support those people and entities impacted by the fire. A five-person volunteer committee read through applications to provide $15,750 in this first round of disbursement.

Donations can still be provided through July 26th, to be distributed in a second round of funding in early August. Donations can be made at any INB branch or drive-thru, or via an online portal that deposits into the INB account daily set up by Downtown Springfield Inc. at https://www.gofundme.com/f/online-inb-collection-for-adams-street-fire.

Those impacted who already applied do not need to submit a second application for additional funding.

The businesses and nonprofit that were given monetary support of various amounts in the first round, totaling $9,750, include:

● Cafe Moxo

● Vegas Line LLC (property owners of 613 E Adams)

● Electric Quill

● Cat’s Pyjamas Cafe

● Daisy Jane’s

● The Wakery

● Itty Bitty Fashion Trunk

● Diamond in the Rough Outreach Inc

The twelve residents who applied for funding received a $500 stipend each.

In addition, DSI, Conn’s Hospitality, and the Kidzeum are partnering with Diamond in the Rough Outreach to replenish the school supplies the nonprofit had collected that were ruined by water and smoke. Diamond in the Rough Outreach was collecting these items for children at Compass 4 Kids and St. Patrick’s Catholic School. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16, people may help replace these items by donating bookbags, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, small staplers, and glue and dropping them off at Kidzeum and all Conn’s Hospitality Group properties including Obed & Isaac’s, 7th St. Cidery, the Inn at 835, Wm. Van’s Cafe and Trish & Mary’s.

The fund at INB, entitled Benefit for Businesses Affected by Adams Family Fire, was set up the morning after the fire as property owners, businesses and residents assessed the immediate aftermath. One hundred percent of the funds collected through the INB Fund are being distributed to the affected people and businesses. Funds given to the INB fund are not considered a charitable contribution by the IRS.
