All the information, once converted to digital format, in all the books of a library with 50,000 books will fit in the memory of the average size smartphone we are carrying around all the time.
Another interesing fact is all that information will fit on a micro SD card the size of one of your finger nails. The ability to store that much information in such a compact space was invented and available to use in 2013. Today, in 2023, a $100 micro SD card can easily store up to 2 TB’s. That means a small micro SD card can now store all the information in 8 libraries that contain 50,000 books each.
Researching the world’s libraries is now accessible to just about anyone without having to travel or read a lot of information that isn’t relevant to our needs. I think this why we needed to invent, AI Chatbots. They will become essential to any research project because they can search through Terabytes of information nearly instantly.
The sum total of all human information is being collected and compiled for access through our digital devices. It is happening very fast now. We don’t know where this technology will take us but I’m sure having access to more information is a good thing for the human race.
