Giving circle awards more than $60,000 to local charities
Continuing its mission to engage women of all generations in the power of community philanthropy, Women for Women announced its 15 th annual round of grants.
The 2023 grants, totaling more than $60,000, were awarded to the following organizations:
Helping Hands of Springfield – $28,500
To support the Healing Spaces for Women program that will furnish the women’s dormitory at the new shelter on Dirksen Parkway, create and stock a sanitary pantry and deliver trauma-informed yoga classes and onsite access to licensed clinical social workers from the SIU Survivor Recovery Center.
The James Project – $31,875
To support the DCFS Child Partnership program that aids foster children with quality, consistent care through the provision of essential items such as beds, clothes, infant supplies, and hygiene kits. This year’s awards bring cumulative grantmaking by the group to more than half-a-million dollars since its inception in 2007.
Women for Women is a special initiative at the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln and aims to help members “build a legacy together” by pooling their annual contributions and creating a permanent resource for local programs that support women and children. Women for Women Steering Committee members are Kate Dunne (chair), Mary Beaumont, Katherine Cadagin, Patti Camille, Pamela Frazier, Kathleen Holley, Sammi Mander, and Melissa Skinner- Liberman.
