The Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin Scholarship was created in memory of John and Genelle McCullough. The scholarship was paid through the Butler Community Endowment Fund created in 2005 as part of the Sangamon County Community Foundation, now known as the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln.
John and Genelle McCullough were the well-respected owners of the McCullough Funeral Home serving New Berlin and surrounding areas for 39 years. Both were licensed professional funeral directors.
“John was a businessman, gentleman, and avid Pretzel fan. He served the New Berlin community in many charitable and volunteer capacities. Genelle was an exceptional lady and true professional. She had an impressive business career in St. Louis and Jacksonville before moving to New Berlin where she, too, was active in many service clubs and volunteer organizations,” said Chris Butler, President, Butler Family of Organizations. “It’s a distinct honor to present a scholarship in their memory.”
The Butler Family of Organizations have been helping families say goodbye to loved ones with dignity and respect for nearly 130 years.
