The Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation (SYPG), an organization spotlighting young talent from the Springfield area, is excited to announce auditions on Friday, September 16 for The Nutcracker: Land of the Sweets at the Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance, 501 West Elliott Avenue, Springfield.
This performance is an abridged tale of the holiday classic The Nutcracker featuring dancers from the SYPG Studio Company, preparatory company, and local young dancers. We will travel with Clara and the Nutcracker Prince through the land of the snow and sweets, to the delight of young and old.
The performances will take place on December 11 & 12 at Sacred Heart Griffin Auditorium.
Registration will take place from 5:30-6:00pm, with auditions from 6:00-7:00pm. Dance auditions are open to children ages 5-14 and numerous parts are available for both boys and girls. All participants must arrive by the close of registration and must be accompanied by an adult. Audition

Performers should be dressed appropriately for auditions. For girls, please wear a leotard, tights and ballet shoes with hair in a bun (if possible). For boys, please wear a t-shirt, athletic pants/shorts and ballet or jazz shoes. All rehearsals will be held on Saturdays beginning September 24 from 2:00-5:00pm at The Grant Conservatory of Music & Dance. Rehearsals will be led by Taryn Grant, Director of Community Engagement, and Elizabeth Cheney, Artistic Coordinator, . There will be a $75 participation fee per performer.
Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation (SYPG) was founded in the summer of 2005 as a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the performing arts. SYPG’s mission is to encourage and cultivate the artistically talented youth in our community by giving them the opportunity to perform thereby enhancing community awareness and appreciation of the performing arts.
