At the LA Premier of “Fields of Gold”

The film “Fields of Gold”, a documentary film about the rags to riches story of A.E. Staley, will run at the Lincoln Square Theater in Decatur for 6 weeks. The premier showing is on September 16. In this podcast Julie Staley of Spencer Films and Michael Pollack of Pollack Films tells us about their production of the film, the inspiration they got from producing it and why we should go see the film.

Lisa was the Executive Director at Downtown Springfield Inc. for nearly 6 years.  We featured Lisa in the magazine several years ago and she recently resigned to pursue other goals. I wanted to catch up with her and find out what’s going on with downtown Springfield and her future plans.  It was a very informative interview and help me understand the challenges facing us downtown.

Dr. Lee was in town to be the featured speaker for the Women’s Power Night Against Cancer to benefit Simmon’s Cancer Institute at SIU School of Medicine.  We featured her in the magazine and we are sharing the interview with our readers.  She is a fascinating doctor of Dermatology with a hit show on the TLC Channel called, Dr. Pimple Popper.  With over 20 million followers on her social media platforms she is someone to listen to.

Colleen Stone, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County.

Colleen was featured in Springfield Scene Magazine in our Jan/Feb 2019 issue.   She has been the Executive Director since October 2013.  Her story is one of service above self and combined with her excellent work ethic she has found herself in non-profilt leadership roles for over 18 years.  Colleen shares her life story, Habitat’s mission and her advice for young people looking for a successful career no matter where they end up.

Teressa’s story and her book review appeared in Sprngfield Scene Magazine in the July/August 2020 issue in a story written by Cinda Ackerman Klickna.  The podcast interview with Teressa Shelton goes deeper into her experiences as a child and teenager living in an abusive home.  She shares the impact it has had on her life.   I was captivated by the book “The Sergeants Daughter” and read it cover to cover.   The conversations in the podcast only made me appreciate her story and her bravery even more.
