Julie Staley

For 76 years, household products giant A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company in Decatur provided a livelihood for thousands of families throughout central Illinois. Since selling out to Tate & Lyle in 1988, the company has continued its giving ways by providing financial assistance to central Illinois charities through the Staley Family Foundation.

Wes Barr

Recently elected as Sangamon County Sheriff, 51-year old Wes Barr shares stories of growing up in Springfield public housing – the John Hay Homes where life was “rough.” Moving to the Brandon Addition -
newer, less densely populated public housing much further east in the city - did not make life any easier for Barr, his five siblings, parents, grandmother, or great-grandmother. He shrugs off questions about encountering bullying by other kids.

Jenna Brown Davlin

I first met Jenna Brown Davlin at the award’s ceremony held by the Young Philanthropists (YP) at the Prairie Art Alliance in the Hoogland Center. This year, they made an $8,000 contribution to the Girls on the Run program. Jenna is the chair of the YP grant review board and she along with a few other members reviewed all the applications before choosing the GOTR program. Jenna was also the member who presented the check that evening.

Special Feature - Beaux Arts Ball

The 83rd Annual Beaux Arts Ball, Amour de l’Art, was held November 29, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield. The event is a Gala Fundraiser for the Springfield Art Association. The event holds a coronation ceremony for the queen each year who has the honor of reigning over the Ball. This elegant gala honors the families and volunteers who generously support the Springfield Art Association with their time, talent and financial resources.
